The Space Technology Cluster joins the 3W Idea ecosystem. Representatives of both organizations signed a Letter of Intent on November 20, 2023. The aim of this cooperation is to support the development of space technologies, promote innovative solutions and strengthen the presence of Poland in the space sector worldwide.
The cooperation of 3W Idea and the Space Technology Cluster will consist in supporting innovative research and development projects and active efforts to create a favourable business environment for companies from the space sector in Poland. They are also going to conduct activities aimed at promoting the Polish space industry internationally.
Signing the letter of intent is a major step in building a cooperation network between Polish entities interested in the space sector.
“Progress in space technologies is a huge opportunity for the Polish economy and can help us build competitive advantages in the international arena. BGK wants to support this development. The space industry has the potential to generate significant economic growth. Investments in this area can increase GDP by up to 10-12 percent in the long term” said Beata Daszyńska-Muzyczka, President of Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego.
“Since the establishment of the 3W Idea, we have been building a platform that supports innovation and development and connects representatives of various - science, business and public administration - areas. The Space Technology Cluster is also based on cooperation, so it is a natural partner for us. Moreover, technologies related to hydrogen and modern carbon materials are widely used in the space industry.” added Beata Daszyńska-Muzyczka.
There are now 330 companies employing 12,000 specialists operating in the space industry in Poland, and investments in this sector exceed USD 140 million annually.
The Space Technology Cluster has been operating and developing dynamically for the last two years. It currently has 47 members, incl. micro-, small- and medium-sized companies (e.g. KP Labs and Scanway), research and development centres (e.g. Space Research Centre of the Polish Academy of Sciences), universities (e.g. Military University of Technology), and institutions (e.g. Rzeszów Regional Development Agency, Podkarpackie Centre of Innovation and State Treasury companies (e.g. EXATEL)).
Rafał Magryś, Chairman of the Space Technology Cluster Council and Vice-President of the EXATEL S.A. Management Board, emphasized that the partnership with 3W Idea is a natural phenomenon for an organization such as KTK. “3W Idea is an initiative focused on technologies based on water, hydrogen and carbon. This triad is important for the development of space technologies and exploration. Looking into the increasingly distant future, hydrogen could be used as fuel for missions to Mars. A manned mission is also not possible without modern life support technologies and closed loops, such as efficient and ecological water recovery and treatment. Modern carbon technologies - especially those at the nano scale - allow the production of materials with greater durability and lower weight, which is of great importance in the case of ships, satellites and probes” he explains.
These modern technologies are the result of the work of many people, here on Earth. “That is why we want to develop cooperation with BGK. We want to meet other people and entities connected by this idea. We already know and cooperate with some of them, but we want to establish cooperation with others, because it is the cooperation that makes continuous development possible. We are happy to share our experience in building business environment institutions, while benefiting from the experience of our new partner” said Rafał Magryś.
The Space Technology Cluster brings together the most important domestic commercial companies, both private and State Treasury companies, scientific and research organizations, representatives of the academic community and institutions surrounding the space sector.

The Space Technology Cluster is focused on cooperation and promotion of the Polish space industry. The establishment of the organization was the initiative of EXATEL - a Polish telecommunications operator - and brings together leading entities from the space sector. The members of the Cluster are the major domestic commercial companies (both privately held and State Treasury companies), scientific and research organizations, representatives of the academic community and institutions from the space sector.
