About us
The 3W Idea is a unique concept on a global scale, in which we combine competences and needs of the science, business and administration world to build a better, modern and sustainable future based on water, hydrogen and carbon technologies.
3 resources, one planet, shared responsibility
Today – not only as Poland, but as the whole world – we are facing huge civilisation challenges, because climate change is moving faster than we initially assumed. Societies in developed countries already expect us not to develop at the expense of future generations and the environment, and the coming years and decades will be crucial in this regard.
The 3W Idea is a vision of the future, in which we, as a whole society, responsibly manage the resources at our disposal and in which we can maintain and improve our quality of life while using less energy and fewer non-renewable resources.
3W focuses on three resources that will have a huge impact on our future: they are water, hydrogen and carbon.
Water is a source of life
It is one of the most vital resources of our planet. It covers as much as 70% of the Earth’s surface, bur only a small percentage, only 1%, is suitable for direct human use. Due to climate change, it is becoming less accessible in many places, which is why it is important to manage its resources efficiently.
Hydrogen is the fuel of the future
Hydrogen technologies are rapidly evolving towards production of clean hydrogen from renewable energy sources. In effect, hydrogen will become a clean and easily accessible means of energy storage. It offers an opportunity to reduce the carbon footprint of the entire economy.
Carbon is the material of the future
Thanks to its unique properties, carbon enables scientists to design lighter and more durable engineering materials. Graphene, fullerenes, carbon nanotubes and active carbon are used in construction, medicine, pharmacology and the space industry, among others.
Discover our mission
The 3W Idea supports sustainable socio-economic development of Poland. In the next few years, it will become a global platform and European leader in integrating and supporting projects involving synergistic utilisation of water, hydrogen and advanced carbon technologies.
We support the collaboration of business, science and public administration
Together with entities active in the 3W world, we are developing mechanisms and instruments to improve the effectiveness of project commercialisation and ensure the protection of intellectual capital. Our initiative has already been joined by more than 100 companies and organisations that create or apply innovative water, hydrogen and carbon-based solutions.
Building knowledge and competences
We make efforts and create tools that support, pool, systematise and disseminate knowledge on 3W-related matters. We produce studies and reports on 3W. We design mechanisms that will consistently build 3W intellectual capital. We have established the 3W Interdisciplinary Innovation Centre (3W IIC) whose role is to accelerate and facilitate the commercialisation of new technologies in the area of water, hydrogen, and carbon.
We promote the 3W lifestyle and educate
We build awareness of the 3W Idea among the society so that its principles have a positive influence on daily consumer choices of Poles. We create animations about a man in the 3W world, we organise workshops in schools and we support competitions of young talents.
International cooperation
We promote the 3W Idea abroad so that in a few years it may be widely recognised as Poland’s contribution to the global sustainable development initiative.
