14 new organisations in the 3W world

Arrow

The new organizations joined the several dozen already integrated into the 3D world around the strategic initiative of Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego. Their knowledge and experience in water, hydrogen and modern carbon technologies will help build an innovative hub based on 3W in Poland. This is a new look at the competitive and modern economy that BGK has been building for over a year.

The synergy of resources and potentials, especially intellectual ones, that we have in our country is the key to the success of Polish entrepreneurs on international markets. Our goal is to build a platform for cooperation between many environments, e.g. science, business or public administration, and we consistently implement this goal. The best proof of this is already dozens of organizations - and the number is constantly growing - that cooperate with us for the development of the 3D sector”, said Maciej Przybyła, Managing Director of the Strategy Division of Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego.

Water - the queen of resources and life

Water is essential for all life on Earth and is considered the oil of the 21st century by investors. Four new organizations in the 3D ecosystem operate in the field of water technologies. The Institute for Ecology of Industrial Areas conducts scientific researches on the closed water cycle, i.e. the economical management of this resource and its multiple reuse. Another water company is RDLS - an initiative of scientists from the Faculty of Biology at the University of Warsaw. One of its goals is the design and construction of passive wastewater treatment systems of the Constructed Wetland type. The installations are adjustable in terms of variable amount of sewage supplied and pollutant load. On the other hand, the Water and Sewage Company in Żory offers a wide range of activities that ensure the efficient opearation of the water and sewage system in this city. Similarly, the Water and Sewage Company in Tarnowskie Góry, which supplies water to apartments, discharges and treats sewage, and offers solutions to improve energy efficiency.

Hydrogen solutions of the future

Hydrogen inflected by all cases. Fuel of the future or energy carrier? The Polish technology company, EXDIN Solutions, which has just joined the 3D ecosystem, is a creator of many specialized solutions for the hydrogen technology sector that are characterized by high resistance to hydrogen embrittlement. The company's products are used primarily in Hydrogen Refueling Stations (HRS intended for both heavy transport (HDV) and light vehicles.

Another company that operates in the hydrogen sector is mPower, which has developed competences in the area of zero-emission transport. The company created innovative power electronic components and electric machines and provides technological support in the design, construction and integration of hydrogen and electric drives. It is a real driving factor for sustainable transport.

The last hydrogen company among the signatories of the letter of intent with BGK is CHEMET S.A. The company is a manufacturer of specialized equipment for the transport and storage of substances under high pressure (LPG, LNG), process equipment and cryogenic tanks. In 2018, the company launched the production of complete rail tank cars for the transport of liquefied gases. Currently, Chemet SA is working on expanding its product portfolio with tanks for hydrogen storage.

Carbon - the key to innovation

Modern carbon technologies offer hope for new features and applications in many industries. A new company in the 3D world, BeeGraphene, produces high-quality graphene on a silicon carbide surface. It is used in research and development units that deal with research in electronics using graphene. The future goal is to use it in industry.

the Institute of Carbon Technologies creates high-quality nanocarbon components. It is also a research centre that focuses on the development of carbon nanotechnology, and its goal is to co-create multifunctional and environmentally friendly products. The Institute is the owner of the CARBON4nano brand, which is the only one in Poland that produces, inter alia, concentrates and dispersions based on carbon nanotubes.

Oner Carbon Sp. z o. o. – the other signatory of the letter of intent – is a domestic manufacturer of carbon fiber components. The flagship product of the company is a lightweight wheelchair for active rehabilitation made of carbon fibre, titanium and aluminium. In its work, the company uses the latest technologies such as: 3D modeling, CNC milling, infusion or hot pressing.

Resource synergy

Synergy is a word that appears more and more often in the context of 3D, although the exceptional interdependence of resources was already mentioned when establishing the initiative. The 3W world has been joined by companies that combine the use of water, hydrogen and carbon in their activities - including the Regional Development Agency, Hugo Green Solutions, the Innovation Centre at the University of Agriculture in Krakow and the Tychy Energy Cluster.

The Regional Development Agency S.A. in Bielsko-Biała supports the competitiveness of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises and implements projects aimed at improving the quality of life of residents, developing the labour market, increasing entrepreneurship and innovation of the economy, also in the field of water, hydrogen and innovative carbon technologies. Hugo Green Solutions supports the innovativeness of Polish agriculture. It has developed a technology that helps solve problems related to growing plants in unfavourable growth conditions, stimulates plants to grow and increases their resistance to pathogens.

The Innovation Center at the University of Agriculture in Krakow, on the other hand, aims to support cooperation between science and business and to promote innovative activities, in particular identifying and marketing innovations and advanced technology products. The last organization in this group, Tychy Energy Cluster, focuses on building energy communities, conducting and implementing research and development projects in the field of hydrogen technology and their commercialization. The main objective of the cluster's activity is the development of energy based on renewable energy sources, which is to serve the pursuit of energy self-sufficiency and improvement of the quality of the natural environment. The 3W ecosystem, which supports the development of modern water, hydrogen and carbon technologies, is constantly developing. Over 40 organizations have already joined the 3W initiative, including Toyota Central Europe and the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management.

The 3D Idea focuses on 3 key resources that are the foundation of life on earth: water, hydrogen and carbon (3D). 3W supports the world of science, business and administration in the development of modern technologies that are used in industry, energy and medicine. Its task is to build and integrate a community of talented scientists, ambitious students, brave entrepreneurs, visionary non-governmental organizations and responsible representatives of the public sector, financial institutions, and to activate society.
